A full-fledged Students Council has been formed to generate a greater sense of involvement and responsibility among the students. The Council has equal representation from senior and junior students. It consists of sub-committees dealing with Placement; Value Addition; Events; Social Interaction; Publicity; Sports; Alumni; and Grievances.

Spectrum: The Mega Management Festival - Every year, students organise a mega inter-institute Management Festival called 'Spectrum.' Nearly 2,000 students from some 20 institutions participate in the events that include Case Analysis, Ad-making, Role Play, Sales Promotion, Singing, Antakshari, and Fashion Show. It is a practical exercise for them in how to plan a major event; identify, meet and convince clients (sponsors); plan the logistics; venue and crowd management; delegation of work; coordination of various sub-committees; interaction with business and industry leaders; presentation and communication skills, finance management, brochure and poster designing; media planning and publicity; and a variety of other tasks.

Mrutyunjay Club: Upon a call from Nagpur City Police, 25 students of NYSS-IMR came together to form the ‘Mrutyunjay Club.’ It is a community initiative to gear up the young generation to meet the threat of terror shoulder-to-shoulder with the law-enforcing agencies. The 25 students have been issued identity cards by the police department and they are now responsible and vigilant components of the anti-terror movement.
